Join PZU Warsaw Marathon
Warsaw is different from the rest of Poland. While most Polish cities are centered on an old market square, the capital is spread across a broad area with diverse architecture. Restored Gothic, communist concrete, modern glass and steel come together to create this out unimmitable city.
The PZU Warsaw Marathon, also known as PZU Maraton Warszawski, will take you through the Polish capital’s tumultuous past, reminding you of its survival after being virtually destroyed at the end of World War II.
Having been held since 1979, the PZU Warsaw Marathon is the oldest one in Poland and is one of Europe’s fastest growing marathons – it went from 3000 to 7000 runners over a decade.
The route of PZU Maraton Warszawski is superbly organised, ultra fast and gathers thousands of spectators along the way. And unlike during any other marathon, crowds get together and tens of thousands of people gather to help put up cheering zones in each of the six districts! Never will you feel more welcome in a marathon!
Register today for the PZU Warsaw Marathon and dive into the deep Polish culture, from the joys of Chopin’s music to the tragedy of the Jewish ghetto!
Traditionally, the course will focus on the most beautiful and historical points of Warsaw with the most remarkable ones as the start and finish line of the race.
The Warsaw Marathon, we will start from the main gate of the University of Warsaw; After the first kilometers along the Royal Route up to Plac Na Rozdrożu we will run along Puławska street to Ursynów, then we will go up to the vicinity of Temple of Divine Providence to reach almost the half of the marathon in the Łazienki Królewskie Park. Then running across the Świętokrzyski Bridge we will reach the right bank of the Vistula River. Then we will run next to the Zoo and through the center of Praga Północ district to reach the Gdański Bridge. From there, the Warsaw Marathon, for the first time in more than a quarter- century, will head to the Wilson Square. After going around the Kępa Potocka and passing the Citadel we will reach the finish line, which, after eight years of break, comes back to the vicinity of Fountain Park at the foot of the New Town.
