The Hoosier Half Marathon is a challenging course where participants will find 13.1 miles of rolling hills, but be rewarded with amazing views of campus, downtown, and countless Spring blooms. Challenging, beautiful, and rewarding!
Some of those highlights include; Assembly Hall, Memorial Stadium, the downtown Bloomington courthouse square, famed Kirkwood Avenue, the Sample Gates, Indiana Memorial Union, the Arboretum, countless Greek houses, nearby downtown neighborhoods, Monroe County YMCA, Bloomington High School South, Bryan Park, and many Indiana University buildings on campus among others.
Both the half marathon and 5K begin next to the IU Alumni Center before leading runners through downtown Bloomington and the famed courthouse square. Half marathoners and 5K runners continue together along Kirkwood Avenue until returning to the IU campus, where the two courses diverge. Half marathoners then continue through the campus, passing the arboretum and IU Art Museum. before continuing onto Fee Lane and running through IU’s Greek Row.
The second half of the race leads runners toward residential neighborhoods south of the campus before returning to IU for the last mile and finish line, which is shared with the start line.
