The Empire State Marathon is an annual marathon (42.195 km/26.219 mi) held each October in Syracuse, New York. The first running of the race was on October 16, 2011. The marathon course has been certified by the USATF. Race organizers are looking to capitalize on the growing popularity of distance running in upstate New York, particularly with the success of other local marathons in Rochester, Buffalo, Albany and the Boilermaker Road Race in Utica.
The Empire State Marathon is returning for its annual event this Fall, providing yet another amazing competition in an un-rivaled atmosphere. With marathon and half marathon distances, this popular upstate race has been a favorite for destination athletes. Based in Syracuse, NY the course features an Onondaga Lake setting with more welcoming views than you might expect when running miles on end.
Designed to take advantage of this part of central New York state’s fall season — when the leaves turn brilliant shades of red, gold, brown and orange — the half marathon race follows an out-and-back course.
The start and finish will take place at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, NY. Adequate parking will allow runners easy access to the venue and entertainment adjacent to the start and finish. Additionally offering an easy exit after the race is over.
