Avinguda de La Reina Maria Cristina
The route runs through the streets and most emblematic monuments of the city: Stadium of FC Barcelona, Passeig de Gracia, Sagrada Familia, Forum, Olympic Port, Arc de Triomphe, Plaça Catalunya and monument to Christopher Columbus.
The Barcelona Marathon is well-organized with a route entirely in Barcelona city with water points lining the route, massage service and showers. The route for Barcelona Marathon begins at Avenida de La Reina Maria Cristina and leads out to Plaza Espanya. You then wind around a 25 mile circuit of Barcelona which have some of the great monuments en route. You will (hopefully) return at the same point as you left.
The race started as the Catalunya Marathon (Marató de Catalunya) in 1977, and the name was changed to the current one in 2005.
