About Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Half Marathon and Fall 5k

With a course that takes runners on a tour of this scenic town located near Acadia National Park and scenic Mount Desert Island, the Bar Harbor Half Marathon offers runners a challenging loop race that starts and finishes at the city’s YMCA Athletic Field.

Most of the course for the half (9 miles) takes place on the Acadia Park’s carriage paths, offering what race organizers say is an excellent running surface, surrounded by views of the forests, ponds and the waters of Eagle Lake, which lies in the center of the park. The race is open to both runners and walkers, who start an hour before the runners.

This race is the MDI YMCA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the Half Marathon help fund all of the MDI Y’s program. The MDI YMCA is the cornerstone of youth development and recreational activities on the island. The event also offers a 5k component.

Acadia National Park is requiring that every Half Marathon runner has either a VALID 2016 Park Pass or pay the $12 entry fee to run in the park.
