Join Jemez Mountain Trail Runs
The Jemez Mountains are a volcanic group of mountains in Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and Los Alamos counties, New Mexico, United States. The highest point in the range is Chicoma Mountain at an elevation of 11,561 feet (3524 meters). The town of Los Alamos and Los Alamos National Laboratory adjoin the eastern side of the range while the town of Jemez Springs is to the west.
The Jemez Mountains Trail Runs takes place in and around Los Alamos in the scenic Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico. The Jemez Mountains Trail Runs has gained a reputation as a very difficult course. The course is on technical trails with a substantial amount of elevation change. On the course, runners will experience high altitude (from 7,000 to over 10,000 feet above sea level), fallen trees, and other obstacles.
Profits from the JMTR are donated to local organizations. The race primarily benefits the Los Alamos High School Cross Country team and the Wally Walters and Aaron Goldman Scholarship Funds. The JMTR also makes donations to local organizations that contribute to the success of the race, including Pajarito Ski Patrol, Volunteer Task Force, Southwest Nordic Ski Club, Pajarito Environmental Education Center, Los Alamos
Amateur Radio, Los Alamos Sherriff’s Posse, and others.
