RUNmarö Halvmarathon

The idea for Runmarö born during a Running workout, 2014. During a long trip around the island at about 20km I realized that it would be able to arrange an incredibly beautiful and impetuous half-marathon and showcase stunning Runmarö with all its history. A story that contains both ryssungngar, Strindberg and Nobel laureates. During another long pass hatched humorous "brand" Runmarö who was a natural name. 

Said and done so we booked into the Sunday July 19 the summer of 2015 for the implementation of the world’s first Runmarö Half Marathon. To not only to direct us to those who can run really well, we also launched Runmarö Mile. The goal of Runmarö concept was to create a runner vent in the middle of summer, showcasing a vibrant island with all its history and also fill the island’s natural and loved hub Svängen a Runmarö-dinner in the evening. But even doing something good for others. Therefore we donate all the surplus from Runmarö to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. 

The response was shown to be greater than we dared to believe, and all 71 runners completed the first Runmarö races with amazing victory times. We filled the turn on the evening and managed to collect 5100kr to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. A success simply.

When we were asked to take over responsibility for the venerable Lunken, a race organized on the island for several years, it felt very natural to integrate it into Runmarö. We adjusted some races and launched on Sunday, 24th July 2016 Runmarö’s current three races – Runmarö Mini-Lunken 1.5km, 5.7km and Lunken Half Marathon 21km.

During the warmest day carried 135 excited runners of all ages Runmarö 2016. We filled Svängen again and were treated to great entertainment by Runmarös own idol, Simon Weidersjö . And together we managed to collect a donation of 6300kr to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. WOW!

Now we have honed Runmarö concept further. It will be a simpler Runmarö lunch on Svängen before the races. We have adjusted Half Marathon course something to show off more of the island’s villages dating from the 1800s and create our own Runmarö Half Marathon stone.
