Join Paavo Nurmi Marathon Turku Finland 2025
Do you want to run in the footsteps of the Flying Finn? The Paavo Nurmi Marathon is a tribute to Paavo Nurmi, the legendary distance runner who dominated the world of middle-distance to long-distance running at the beginning of the 20th century, winning 9 Gold Medals at the Olympics. If history isn't your cup of tea, the city of Turku, home town of the legend and original capital city of Finland is in itself worth the travel. The historical seaside town and its archipelago offer a delightful environment to run in, mixing city and nature. The certified marathon route will take you through the historical city center, along the banks of the River Aura and in the scenic park on the Ruissalo Island. The event is also one of the few road marathons organized in late August in Europe. At that time of the year, Southern Finland offers the perfect weather for long distance running.
