Join Nafplio Castle Run
Nafplio Castle Run is a unique running sports Event as it has the only race in Greece that includes a racing castle ascension! The Event also includes 10 km, 5 km & 2,5 km junior run.
The Event is organized by the Municipality of Nafplio (DOPPAT) in cooperation with GE Argolidas Sports Club and under the auspices of EOT (Greek Tourism Organisation) and PSAT (Panhellenic Sports Press Association). It will take place with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Culturethe, the Ministry of Education, the Chamber of Argolis and the Center for Greek Studies (Greece) of Harvard University.
Nafplio Castle Run aims:
- Τo create a unique sports event which will draw runners from all over Greece.
- Τo promote Nafplio city’s natural beauty and the long and significant cultural heritage and tradition.
- Τo “open” a dialogue for the significance and the connection of monuments with the present.
The start & finish line will be situated on the 25th of March street in front of the entrance of the Castle. The Event’s services will be located throughout 25th of March street.
Palamidi is one of the most beautiful castles in Greece and the largest and best preserved fortress complex of Venetian domination. The castle was designed by Giaxich and built by the french LaSalle. Its construction was completed in 1714 and its aim was to serve the military and naval operations of the Venetians.

Course details
Nafplio Castle Run, the only race in Greece that includes a racing accession of a castle, invites you to challenge your limits!
Castle Run is a race of special requirements at a total distance of 5km. The first part (850 m. with a steep climb) consists of climbing on the historic castle through the 999 stairs path. The second part (4.15 downhill) includes the route through the asphalt-paved path to the finish line.
Nafplio Castle Run is a race of special requirements addressed to experienced runners.
