Course highlights
Starting out near Broadway at the Beach, just north of the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Robert M. Grissom Parkway, the course departs up Grissom Pkwy. and down Mr. Joe White Avenue before heading south on Kings Highway toward the Myrtle Beach International Airport. A quick turn into The Market Common area — the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base — makes for a fun place for spectators to watch as racers hit the halfway point of the half marathon. Upon exiting the shopping center, the route turns onto Ocean Boulevard, where marthon runners spend their longest stretch, passing through the heart of downtown, past the SkyWheel. As half marathoners peel off toward the finish, those going the full distance will experience the races most scenic areas such as Myrtle Beach's famous "golden mile" and "cabana district" where huge high-rise hotels give way to unadulterated oceanfront views. With the miles wearing on, racers take a quick jaunt through the prestigious Grand Dunes area (the course's northernmost point), before turning for home back down Kings Highway, across the East Coast Greenway bike path and along Grissom Parkway before meeting cheering crowds at the finish line in the parking lot of Ticketreturn.com Field — home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.Recensioni
