IRONMAN 70.3 Cozumel, set on the stunning island off the Yucatan Peninsula, draws athletes and spectators into a unique challenge amid breathtaking scenery. Participants swim, bike, and run surrounded by over 14 miles of vibrant reefs and ancient archaeological ruins. The island's expansive turquoise waters and pristine white sandy beaches offer not only an exhilarating race venue but also a tranquil retreat for post-race relaxation and exploration.
Course details
The swim will be a rolling start. Athletes will enter the water in a continuous stream through a controlled access point, similar to how running road races are started. An athlete’s times will start when they cross timing mats at the start line. Athletes will be directed to self-seed on race morning based on their projected swim time. Volunteers and staff will be in the staging area with signs and will assist with this process. Self-seeding will not be mandatory but will be encouraged.
BIKE
The bike course is flat and paved, starts at the CHANKANAAB parking lot (T1), and finishes at T2 next to Cozumel’s City Hall in the heart of downtown. Athletes will have to complete 1.3 laps along the highway around the Island in a counter-clockwise direction.
RUN
The 2 lap run course is all flat and paved, it passes many of Cozumel’s signature sites, including its waterfront walk, downtown main plaza, and historic neighborhoods.

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
Friday, September 18, 2026 - 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Cozumel Convention Center (EXPO) Saturday, September 19, 2026 - 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Cozumel Convention Center (EXPO) NOTE: Athletes will be divided into groups for check-in and packet pickup. Each group will have a different scheduled date and time for packet pickup.
Can someone collect my race pack for me?
Each participant must pick up their race kit in person and must show a valid picture ID (i.e., passport, driver's license, or visa).
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
Registration for this event is personal, non-transferable, non-refundable and it is valid for this edition only. It is strictly forbidden to hand your number to another person or to participate with someone else’s number; to do so may lead to a sanction of up to 12 months.
Can I listen to music on the run?
iPods, MP3 players, phones, video cameras etc. are not permitted on the course.
What are the wetsuit restrictions?
Wetsuits are permitted if the water temperature is up to (and including) 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit (24.5 degrees Celsius) or colder. Wetsuits cannot measure more than 5 mm thick. Wetsuits will be prohibited in water temperatures greater than 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit (24.5 degrees Celsius). WARNING: The De Soto Water Rover and the Speedo Elite Triathlon Wetsuit with forearm flaps wetsuits are PROHIBITED. Athletes should contact the wetsuit manufacturer directly to confirm whether their suit is legal. Race officials will be monitoring athletes on race morning to enforce wetsuit restrictions.
What if I can't make it to athlete check-in within the designated hours?
You must check in and pick up your race packet during designated check-in hours. This rule is in effect for a number of important reasons and exists to make your experience safe and stress-free. The scheduling is designed to allow each athlete the opportunity to become oriented with the venue and receive all the necessary information needed for a successful race. Athlete check-in hours are posted well in advance of race week — please make your travel plans accordingly.
What is the award process? Are awards broken down by gender. age-group, or overall?
Awards are given out to the top 3 overall teams. Each team member will receive a placard. *Gender and age-group are not considered.
Do I have to wear my race number on the run?
Yes, your race number must be worn on your front.
