Grand Canyon Ultras

Join Grand Canyon Ultras
This race is run in the Kaibab National Forest near the entrance to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is staged near the Kaibab Lodge the weekend after Hwy 67 opens up for the season to allow visitors access to the North Rim. Each route runs along the rim of the Grand Canyon (on forest service trails), offering spectacular overlooks into the canyon.
The race will be staged at a designated open use area approximately 4 miles from the Kaibab Lodge, About a mile south of the lodge, turn right onto Hwy 22 and drive about 2 miles to the junction at the top of the hill. Turn south (left) on the 270 and head south for about a mile to the sign that says "Snowmobile Play Area". This is the staging area.
Course highlights
The 50 mile route is a point-to-point race starting at the height of the Kaibab Plateau (9000ft) at 6am on Saturday. Runners will descend 2,000ft down to the rim of the canyon, where they will run the Rainbow Rim trail singletrack to 5 overlook points before a rugged traverse on old logging roads over to the spectacular Crazy Jug and Monument Point overlooks into the Grand Canyon. The route then finishes at a historic corral (Big Saddle Tank) once used by ranchers on the plateau.
The 50K runners will be shuttled to their starting line at Timp Point to begin their race at 7am on Saturday. This course is the same as the latter 32 miles of the 50 mile course, with all of the amazing rim views. Shuttle leaves at 6am sharp and race begins at 7am.
