Catania Marathon

The sports event Maratona di Catania was born in 2018 from an idea of Asd

Atletica Sicilia, with the aim of bringing the 'queen of athletics' back to the

Etnean capital.

The Catania Marathon project, setting itself a path of gradual growth, pursues the goal of becoming an annual appointment for the city of Catania

and not only; in fact, it is precisely for this reason that the organisers of the

have decided to add to the classic distance of 42.195 km, the half marathon and the 10 km, in order to reach the largest possible number of runners and as many runners as possible and to spread awareness of the event.

The Catania Marathon will take place next 10 DECEMBER. The first three

editions were held on a circuit on Viale Kennedy, counting the participation of over 1000 athletes. The last edition was characterised by a change in the route, which included a tour of the city, passing through the most characteristic points of Catania's historical centre.

The route is certified by the FIDAL, as the event is among those

with the FIDAL BRONZE LABEL; moreover, the 2023 edition will be included

within the GLOBAL CALENDAR of World Athletics, which will raise the level of the event and level of the event and will allow the approval of any performances and records valid at world level.
