Aderire Grand Brighton Half Marathon
The Brighton Half Marathon is an annual half marathon road running race. The race is run primarily along Brighton seafront and passes through famous landmarks such as the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Pier, West Pier and Brighton Marina. It is one of the first major halfs in the running calendar and one of the most popular races in the United Kingdom.
Drawing runners from across the UK, the flat course makes it perfect for novice runners and seasoned pros alike, taking in the beautiful coastal views and enjoying a fantastic atmosphere! Going from strength to strength the Brighton Half Marathon celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015 with over 12,500 runners taking part, this fantastic event is set to get even bigger and better than ever before in 2017.
The flat course provides a great intro for novice runners and a fantastic training run for those working up to a full marathon distance. The race became part of the Vitality Running Series in 2014 and is the biggest annual fundraising event for The Sussex Beacon.The Vitality Brighton Half has a wonderful atmosphere, a fast, flat course and a fantastic location by the sea and beside some iconic landmarks of the city.

Starting on Madeira Drive, which is situated on the seafront between Brighton Pier and Brighton Marina, the race heads north past the grandeur of the Royal Pavilion towards the majesty of St Peter’s Church. Turning at Gloucester Place, you head south back down Grand Parade to the Old Steine before turning left onto Marine Parade.
The race then heads out on the road towards Ovingdean, past the regal Royal and Lewes Crescent architecture. Continuing on Marine Drive and the bracing cliff tops, the race will head towards the Blind Veterans UK centre, where a sharp turn on the road before the Greenways Roundabout will bring you back west towards Brighton, enjoying wonderful cliff top and panoramic city views. Picking up pace as you run past the iconic blue railings on Marine Parade, you will run past Brighton Pier and the West Pier on the horizon (if it’s a nice day you may even see Worthing Pier in the distance!).
Once past our two piers you will head into Hove along the Kings Road with the majestic cream regency architecture on your right and the sea on your left. Past the King Alfred Leisure Centre, you will run right to Hove Lagoon before turning left onto the seafront. A great 2 mile run past the colourful beach huts of Hove will bring you back to the Peace Statue, where the race rejoins the road for the last dash past cheering crowds to the finish on Madeira Drive.
