Outsider Events are excited to bring to you a bigger and better 5th edition of Blair Castle Trail Weekender on the 30 May - 1 June 2025.
The 2025 event features a wider range of trail races and exciting edition of our evening talks, and range of live music on the Saturday evening...Plus, the first feature of the Atholl Trail Half Marathon!
Staged within the grounds of the iconic Blair Castle on the Atholl Estate, this weekend of trail running has races from Kids, 7km right up to the 60km 'Full Tilt Ultra'.
All respective races start at the event village based in the grounds of Blair Castle which nestles at the base of the Cairngorm national park.
From here on out, depending on your choice of race, runners either loop round past Hercules Gardens and back to the start, fork off up the winding Glen Tilt or head toward the 1009m high summit of Ben Dearg. Which trail will you take?
Course details
Taking in the 2 Munro summits of Cairn a Chlamain and Ben Dearg, along with Glen Tilt and the vast forests of Blairuachdair the Full Tilt Ultra has it all.
Dearg Up n' Doon - 30km
The Dearg Up n' Doon takes quite a step up from the 2 shorter route options. Reaching heights of over 1000m, runners will experience extensive views across the Cairngorm mountains and the remote beauty of the Allt Scheicheachan Bothy. A great steppping stone for runners looking to dip their toe into higher altitude world of trail running.
Atholl Trail Half Marathon - 21.1km
Brand new for 2025, we have the very first edition of the Atholl Trail Half Marathon! This stunning route takes in a fantastic mix of forest, mountain scenes and winding river.
Banvie Burn - 13km
Like the 7km, our 13km race follows the magical forest trails through Dianas Grove. Instead of returning to the event village, runners will venture down the Buluain Woods before joining Glen Tilt via the Blairuachdair forest before returning back down the Glen and onto the finish.
Dianas Grove - 7km
This 7km race is the perfect introduction to the world of trail running. A rolling route that winds through beautiful forests before reaching the return leg down the tail-end of Glen Tilt.

What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
- If the event is cancelled for any reason (outside of the control of the organiser eg. adverse weather), the organiser will make every such possible attempt to re-schedule the event. Those entered in the event will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled date of the event, or the following years edition. No refund shall be offered. - Outsider Events offers 75% refund minus Entrycentral/Sientries process fee up until 8 weeks prior to event. - Within 8 weeks prior to the event there is no refund offered. - Any course changes (if space is available) made within 2 weeks of the event will be paid at the initial rate of payment and refund will be offered for the difference.
