It's very hilly but it goes through the beautiful Taroko Gorge. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because there are multiple race distances and they all converge at the same time at around the last mile or so through a tunnel. This makes it difficult for anyone trying to run competitively because then you get stuck behind a ton of leisure walkers from the shorter events and you have to weave around so many people. They need to do better about staggering their races so that this doesn't happen.

The first 5k is pretty flat, but then after that it starts to climb for about the next 10k or so and then the last 6k is pretty much all down hill so towards the end you'll feel like you're flying which is a nice way to finish if you feel you've fallen off your desired pace.

Very flat with couple of small bridges to go up and down but a perfect race to go for your personal best. Water stations are more and better than a lot of major marathons with plenty of food left until last minute (not like NY where there is no food or like Tokyo where food is gone in 3 hrs).
