Langham Hotel Weald Challenge

Trail Running Sussex was set up by passionate runners, who wanted to expose the ‘Secret of Sussex’ and share with like minded people the scenic inspiring trails that are in abundance within the county of Sussex, which for many are right ‘On Their Doorstep’. The county of Sussex contains some of the most varied and stunning landscapes in the United Kingdom. From the open chalk grassland and rolling pastures, to ancient woodlands and lush river valleys, Sussex is somewhere special to explore and enjoy, and there is no better way than to don the running shoes, and Head to the Trails.

The Weald Challenge Trail Races follow the long distance paths of the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way. Both races start and finish in the village of Chiddingly and encompass the surrounding beauty of the Sussex countryside en route. The courses are approximately 75% (half marathon) and 85% (ultra) off-road, and as the runners travel along the picturesque and undulating routes, they will take in a great variety of landscapes containing rolling hills, irregular shaped fields and ancient woodlands. Runners participating in the 50km Ultra Trail race will experience the added bonus of the spectacular views from the open heathland of the Ashdown Forest.
