The Oakland Marathon is an exciting annual celebration of running and community, bringing together athletes of all skill levels. Taking place in the vibrant city of Oakland, California, the marathon includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and a race for kids, encouraging families and individuals to join in. The course winds through picturesque streets, highlighting the diverse neighborhoods and landmarks of Oakland. Whether aiming for a personal record or running for enjoyment, the Oakland Marathon offers a perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and connect with fellow runners.
Course details
Miles 6–10: As you approach the Half Way milestone, you’ll experience Downtown Oakland, Telegraph Avenue and its famous Fox Theater before looping around Lake Merritt’s north and west banks.
Miles 11–20: New for 2024 is the joy of running on the Bay Area’s Bay Bridge with epic views on an out-and-back to Yerba Buena Island.
21 to the Finish: Coming off the Bay Bridge and its downhill miles, you’ll pass near Jack London Square prior to celebrating your finish right back in front of the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts at the Kaiser Permanente Finish Line.

What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
All registration fees are non-refundable. This policy applies to all registrants whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, etc. If the course has to be altered or cancelled due to an act of nature, or the event time changed due to circumstances beyond our control, there are no refunds. However, the following alternative options are available: Defer to 2026; Transfer to another person; Transfer to participate remotely/virtually. The last day to defer to 2026, transfer to another person or participate remotely is: Sunday, March 9th.
I did not receive an email with my bib number or QR code
Emails will go out the week of the event to the email address you registered with. There will be bib look-up computers on site at the Expo & on race morning. Please be sure to check your spam folder.
