About Ultransilvania

Ultransilvania is an unique event in Romania created by Asociatia Sport si Anduranta with those who wish to combine running and history in mind. A paved route with a distance of 100 kilometers, the ultra-marathon ties the most important historical sites of Hunedoara County: the Fortress of Deva, Corvin Castle and Sarmizegetusa Regia.

The Romanian specific of the race carries you into a friendly atmosphere from modernism to the medieval period, through the history of the fortress and the castle, through the Romanian village, the breezy woodland and the magic of the rivers and lakes to the origin of the Romanians found inside the Dacian fortress.

Age Limit

Participant must be over 18 years old. When picking up the race kit, they must hand over a medical letter certifying that they are healthy and able to participate at Ultransilvania. The medical letter cannot be older than three months from the first day of the race.

Aid Stations

Control Points and Hydration Power: Throughout the event, there are 17 control and hydration points. There will also be two central points, the first one at the Corvin Castle and the second one in Ludeştii de Jos, which will be also a point with a 10-hour time limit.

Equipment Storage

The athletes can have their own supplies, labeled and signed to be deposited at the personal standing at the control points specified by the participants.

Maximum Time

The time limit for completing the route is 15 hours.

Fortress of Deva



Sarmizegetusa Regia



The race has 101,7 km and 17 control and hydratation points. Start will be on the Fortress of Deva, and then the race will cross Deva city and will go at Corvinesti Castle, passing Almasu Sec, Popesti, Hunedoara. After 42 km, Corvinesti Castle is the first central point. From the Castle the race goes on Nadastie, Calan, Streisângeorgiu, Chitid, Ocolisu Mic, Ludeștii de Jos (second central point at 74,7 km), Costeti, Grădistea de Munte and the finish at Sarmizegetusa Regia.
