About REVEL Canyon City Marathon & Half

The third in a three-race series that starts with August’s Revel Rockies Half Marathon in Colorado and September’s Big Cottonwood Half Marathon in Utah, the Revel Canyon City Marathon offers stunning scenery and breathtaking views of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Angeles National Forest, a world away from the urban sprawl of Los Angeles off in the distance.

This incredibly fast and remarkably beautiful road race takes runners from the forests and canyons of the Angeles National Forest to the foothills of Azusa, California. Featuring a smooth downhill slope and spectacular scenery, this race will be sure to help you set your PR and finally hit that Boston Qualifying time. REVEL Canyon City is the fastest and most beautiful marathon in California. REVEL in speed. REVEL in beauty. REVEL in Canyon City.

Azusa Pacific University.

The REVEL Canyon City Marathon course offers the best of the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest, including breathtaking views of beautiful Azusa Canyon, San Gabriel and Morris Reservoirs, and the San Gabriel River. If that were not enough, the course is almost all downhill on a paved highway and is a Boston Marathon qualifier!

The Marathon begins roughly 25 miles up Highway 39 at the historic Crystal Lake Cafe. Runners will make their way down Crystal Lake Road for two miles before connecting onto Highway 39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road). Participants will remain on Highway 39 for the next 23 miles, most of the way enjoying a perfectly smooth downhill grade. Along the way they will have views of the San Gabriel Valley and beautiful mountain scenery.

After leaving the canyon runners will continue running south on Azusa Ave, enjoying the majestic view of the palm-lined streets. With one mile to go the course turns east on 9th St and continues to Palm Dr, where runners will once again be engulfed by enormous palms on either side of the road. The course finishes with a quick jaunt onto Foothill Blvd where the finish line is located adjacent to the west lawns of Azusa Pacific University.
