Race 13.1 is returning to Music City for the Halloween-themed Race 13.1 Nashville half marathon, 10k and 5k in October! With a beautiful course that features many of the best parts of the city, and plenty of activities to fill the weekend before and after the race, this is a destination event runners won’t want to miss.

Running through Music City on the weekend before Halloween, the Race 13.1 Nashville Half Marathon is one of three events in the series that will take place in Tennessee in this year, a series that bills itself as “big race perks with a local race feel.”

Practicalities

Aid Stations

The course will have feature plenty of aid stations, and water and sports drink will be served at the aid stations. We will have two Rent-A-Johns at each aid station on the course.

Award Medals

All half marathon finishers will receive this medal! Awards will be given to male and female overall and age group winners based on chip time. Awards for the 5k and 10k will be given at 9:30am, and half marathon awards will be presented at 10:30am. Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out. Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up. Each racer will receive a race tech t-shirt. We will offer both men’s and women’s size shirts. All participants will also receive access to numerous Event Deals. A link to view and claim the Event Deals will be emailed out prior to the race and can be found on the race page. If you choose to register at packet pick-up on race day, we cannot guarantee a race t-shirt. They will be available to race day registrants on a first come, first serve basis while quantities last.

Highlights

The race will start and finish at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, which gives visitors a taste of Tennessee’s history, natural wonders and serves as a lasting monument to Tennessee’s Bicentennial Celebration, which was June 1, 1996. The mostly flat course will take runners on a route that will feature the historic Sulphur Dell area of downtown as well as the Nashville Farmer's Market, the new Nashville Sounds ballpark, the picturesque Cumberland River Greenway, and Baptist Sports Park, which serves as the headquarters for the Tennessee Titans.

Overview

Runners will start and finish the out-and-back course for the half at Nashville’s Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, marked by giant state emblem surrounded by flags and which gives visitors a taste of the Volunteer State’s history and natural wonders. The park commemorates Tennessee’s Bicentennial celebration in 1996.

The mostly flat route will take runners past the historic Sulphur Dell area of downtown as well as the Nashville Farmer’s Market, the new Nashville Sounds ballpark, the picturesque Cumberland River Greenway, and Baptist Sports Park, which serves as the headquarters for the Tennessee Titans.

The last five miles will treat runners to views of the Cumberland river which they will be running adjacent to starting around mile 8 all the way to the finish line.

NOTE: Runners will now take Whiteside and turn left onto 2nd Avenue North (instead of 3rd) then access 3rd from Van Buren Street. in addition, there is an out-and-back on both sides of Athens Way, which was not in the original course.
