About Irving Marathon

The Irving Marathon project was founded in 2012 through the collaborative efforts of the Irving Marathon, City of Irving and the Irving Healthcare Foundation, with the vision of bringing a sustainable, community minded running event to the City of Irving.

The Irving Marathon course is relatively flat (with some hills in the first and last three miles). The course starts and ends at the Irving Convention Center. The course is fast and is on 100% paved surfaces.

Highlights

Runners start the race along Irving’s West Las Colinas Boulevard near Williams Square Plaza, the home of the famed Mustangs of Las Colinas statue, the bronze sculpture of nine horses galloping across a stream that has become a tourist attraction here and now features its own museum exhibit. 

The Campion Trail, the 12-ft.-wide paved trail for runners, walkers, bikers and inline skaters that runs roughly parallel to the Trinity River.

Overview

 The course is relatively flat with some hills in the first and last three miles. Participants will enjoy the ease of running on 100% paved surfaces throughout they trail. They will enjoy the calm, picturesque scenery as they go through the Campion trail which runs along The Trinity River, also runners will privy to the sights and landmarks the city has to offer, as the race goes through the town.


Irving Marathon Trivia

The Irving Marathon was the 160th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 247th largest in 2014.

Last year 3.4% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 7.1% of runners qualified for Boston in 2014.

This gives the Irving Marathon the 425th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in the U.S. last year and the 294th highest percentage in 2014.

Its Course Score of 98.96 ranks it as the 183rd fastest marathon course in the U.S. and the 12th fastest course in Texas.

Since 2013, the Irving Marathon has donated nearly $30,000 to the Irving Healthcare Foundation.
