The Hamilton Marathon is billed as the number one qualifier for the Boston Marathon in Canada.

Hamilton is listed as Destination Place to Run in Canadian Runner Magazine.
The Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope course drops over 400 feet (about 125m) from the starting line to the finish. The flat terrain, gentle downhill, completely flat last 7 miles, and cool weather makes this one of the fastest marathons in North America.
The typical race time temperature and humidity levels are within the ideal range for optimal marathon performance. This, coupled with the Course Score, gives the Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope a PR Score of 100.69. This PR Score ranks it as the 1st fastest marathon in Canada and the 1st fastest in Ontario.

Course Highlights

The Marathon starts at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park, at Green Mountain Road and First Road East, Stoney Creek ON, and the first 15k of the marathon is along the back country roads of Hamilton, and the edge of the escarpment.  Runners then head towards the Red Hill Expressway where they will meet up with some of the half marathoners.  Runners will enjoy this down hill coast and the beautiful scenery of the Red Hill. It will be closed to traffic.  Once runners exit the Red Hill you will then start your journey towards Beach Boulevard, running towards Burlington and then turning towards the Waterfront Trail, to finish the last 7 kms along the lake.
