Every runner, at least once in their life time, should experience the magic of running the Venicemarathon, where the fatigue of the 42K is dissolved in the face of the eternal beauty of this city that lies on water and where time seems to have stopped.
The 38th Wizz Air Venicemarathon, which will take place on Sunday 27th October, is one of the most fascinating marathons in the world. Each kilometer of its course is rich in art, history and culture, in a succession of architectural beauties that make it unique and incomparable.
The start of the marathon takes place from the "queen" of the Venetian Villas, Villa Pisani in Stra, a mansion that over the centuries has hosted doges, kings and emperors. On the occasion of the marathon, it opens its gates to accommodate all the pre-race services up to the moment of entering the starting corrals. The first part of the route develops along the Riviera del Brenta with its numerous Venetian villas built in the eighteenth century by Venetian nobles. The show goes on when the athletes run along the water and canals in a unique context in the world, crossing also the 166-meter-long floating bridge, specially set up for the event, that gives the athletes the evocative sensation of running on water. The entrance into St. Mark's Square is also very impressive and very characteristic it is also the finish line set in Riva Sette Martiri, near the "Giardini della Biennale", which host the various pavilions of the biennial exhibition of Art and Architecture where all the post-race services are set up.
If you want to live the magical atmosphere of the event, you can also decide to run the Venice 21K or the VM10K, that rejoin the marathon route up to Riva Sette Martiri in Venice. All athletes who run with tourist-sporting goals can compete in the not agonistic race and it’s enough to sign and upload the Venicemarathon liability waiver form.
These and many other elements drive thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world every year to reach Venice, to run its marathon or a shorter distance and discover the charm of this magical city!
Course details
Riviera del Brenta, with several 18th century mansions along the course (in particular the impressive "Villa Pisani" at the start). Zattere, a 2-km-long embankment next to the Giudecca Canal, where athletes run close to the water. The Bridge over the Grand Canal, a 170-meters-long bridge which is built just before the marathon and dismantled the night after. Piazza San Marco and Palazzo Ducale, historical Venice landmarks. Finish line in Riva Sette Martiri, in the picturesque waterfront of St. Mark's Basin.
HALF-MARATHON
The race will start from the 'living room' of Mestre, the area of Piazza Ferretto, after which the competitors will pass through the renewed central area of Piazzetta Coin and via Poerio, to then touch the new M9 museum complex and reach 'Piazza XXVII Ottobre', commonly known like 'Piazza Barche'. From here, you enter the traditional route of the Venicemarathon which passes along the Salso Canal, the green avenues of the San Giuliano Park and the Ponte della Libertà, and then enters the heart of Venice, where the athletes will face the extraordinary route flush with the water. water, appreciated all over the world for its uniqueness, up to the finish line in Riva Sette Martiri. The route was designed together with the Municipal Administration and the Local Police to cause as little discomfort as possible to citizens and avoid the prolongation of changes to the road network.
VM10K

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
The bib number pick up is at Exposport Venicemarathon Village at San Giuliano Park in Mestre – Porta Blu (Blue entrance) on: * Friday, October 25 from 9am to 8pm * Saturday, October 26 from 9 am to 8pm. When getting the bib number remember to have the confirmation letter, an identity document and the missing documents if requested on the confirmation letter. If your registration is incomplete, you won’t take part in the race.
What is the cancelation/refund policy for this event?
Under no circumstances are the entry fees refundable or transferable to another athlete. If you are worried that will happen unforeseen events that will prevent you from competing you can buy, at the registration moment, an insurance.
