The Ultra Trail Mount Liupan is a premier mountain running event held in the scenic Liupan Mountains as part of the China Mountain Trail Series. Hosted in Guyuan, the race offers distances of 90 km, 50 km, 30 km, and 15 km, attracting runners seeking both technical challenges and cultural exploration.
The course traverses expansive alpine meadows, forest trails, and mountain ridgelines, combining trail running and mountaineering elements across one of northwestern China’s most beautiful mountain regions. With forest coverage exceeding 70% and summer temperatures averaging around 18°C, Liupan Mountain provides ideal conditions for endurance racing.
Beyond its natural beauty, the race is deeply connected to Chinese history. The region sits along the eastern section of the ancient Silk Road and is home to centuries-old grottoes, frontier fortresses, early Chinese civilization sites, and sections of the historic Red Army Long March route. This unique blend of mountain wilderness and cultural heritage creates an experience that extends far beyond the finish line.

Mandatory equipment
Organizer-provided: bib and participant wristband for 90 km, 50 km, 30 km and 15 km. Official route and satellite tracker are required for 90 km, 50 km and 30 km only. Personal equipment required for 90 km, 50 km and 30 km: charged smartphone, backpack or waist bag with whistle, water bag/bottle minimum 1L, rain jacket rated 10,000+, emergency blanket, reusable cup, and 200 kcal energy/cereal bar. First-aid kit: 90 km and 50 km. Headlamp batteries: 2 for 90 km, 1 for 50 km. Warm long-sleeve: 90 km and 50 km. Waterproof trousers: 90 km only. Recommended: sunglasses, sunscreen, poles, sports watch, cap, Vaseline, tape, waterproof bag.
