Join Gibraltar Under Siege

Gibraltar Under Siege is a demanding multi-day endurance race inspired by centuries of military history. Set on the strategic Rock that once resisted repeated French and Spanish assaults, this event challenges modern athletes to test their own resilience. The course spans multiple stages across mixed terrain, circling the peninsula and climbing through historic defences, tunnels, and exposed ridgelines. Runners pass iconic landmarks linked to the Great Siege of the 1700s, with the Rock towering above throughout. Expect a focused, competitive atmosphere, where grit matters more than comfort, and every stage feels earned. This is not about speed alone—it is about control, strength, and holding your line to the finish.

Course highlights
The race doesn't follow a single looped route—instead, each stage explores different sections of the Rock and surrounding areas, combining urban roads, historic trails, military sites, and natural features for a true "siege" experience. Participants navigate:

The famous airport runway — Dash across the world-renowned Gibraltar International Airport runway, where planes take off and land just meters away (a unique shared tarmac thrill!).
Historic gates and Bastion Walls — Charge along Gibraltar's formidable defensive walls and through ancient gates that once guarded the territory.
World War II Tunnels — Run through echoing, atmospheric WWII tunnels (including spots like Keightley Way Tunnel on Stage 3, connecting areas like Rosia Road/Little Bay to Nun's Well/Europa).
Moorish Castle — Pass this medieval fortress, a towering symbol of Gibraltar's layered history from the Moorish era.
O’Hara’s Battery — Summit to the Rock's highest point at O’Hara’s Battery (around 426m elevation), offering panoramic 360° views across the Strait to Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic.
St. Michael’s Cave — Descend into the mystical underground wonder of St. Michael's Cave, with its stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and vast chambers (a dramatic finale element in the course).

Stages are structured for variety and spectacle:
Stage 1 (Saturday 28 Feb 2026, early morning ~7-9am start): An invigorating dawn assault to kick off the siege.
Stage 2 (Saturday 28 Feb 2026, late afternoon ~5pm): Golden-hour magic as the sun sets over the Mediterranean, painting the route in fiery hues for unforgettable views.
Stage 3 (Sunday 1 Mar 2026, morning ~9am): The grand finale—pushing through the toughest sections to conquer the Rock.

The multi-terrain mix includes roads, trails, steep ascents/descents, steps, and technical sections inside historic sites—testing endurance, agility, and mental grit against Gibraltar's unbreakable terrain.
