Join SPAR Budapest Marathon 2025
The Budapest Marathon is part of a two-day festival dedicated to running. On Sunday, the spotlight is on the marathon. Saturday, meanwhile, focuses on shorter distances for less experienced runners. With distances ranging from 400 m to 42 km, everyone in the family can find their own challenge and join in the running festivities.
Taking part in the marathon is essentially a running sightseeing tour of beautiful Budapest. The course winds through the heart of the city, crossing several bridges and passing its most iconic landmarks. Enjoy views of the Buda Castle from the banks of the Danube, and take in the panorama of Pest and Europe’s third-largest Parliament building!

Can someone collect my race pack for me?
Yes, one will need to present the confirmation email to collect your bib number.
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
You can withdraw from the race according to the following deadlines: If you withdraw from the race at least six weeks before the event, the paid entry fee will be credited to your account after deducting 5 € handling fee. If you withdraw from the race within six weeks of the event but no later than Wednesday midnight of the week of the event, the paid entry fee will be credited to your account after deducting 20% handling fee. In both cases, the credited amount may be used to pay the entry fee for our other events, until December 31 of the year following the cancellation.
Can I run with headphones?
It is NOT ADVISED for runners to listen to any kind of audio or playback device that diminishes the external sounds by inserting them into both ears at the same time while running. At the race, the cyclists and motorcycle organizers work in the field, and if necessary, the ambulance cars are also present. The headphones suppress external noises, thus hindering the runner from obstructing the fellow runners and the organizing team carrying out their duties, including the medical team.
What if I exceed the time limit?
If the pace of the last runner falls below the pacemaker’s pace, they will be required to board the sweep bus. Their race bib will be marked, and they will not be permitted to enter the finish area.
Can I run with a dog? Can I accompany my partner on a bike?
Participating in the race on inline skates, cycling, running without a race bib, or running with a dog is not allowed. There is no provision for cycling escorts during the race.
