AKHA Trail takes place in the breathtaking mountain village of Ban Pha Hee, Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, deep in the highlands of Northern Thailand. Runners will experience technical trails, steep climbs, and sweeping mountain views, surrounded by dense forests and the warm hospitality of the local AKHA community.
August brings peak green-season beauty, with misty mornings, lush jungle landscapes, flowing streams, and refreshing mountain air that create a truly dramatic trail-running environment.
This community-driven trail experience is designed to reconnect runners with nature, culture, and themselves. Expect humid tropical conditions, occasional rainfall, and cooler temperatures at higher elevations — perfect for runners who enjoy raw, adventurous trail conditions and ever-changing weather that adds to the challenge and atmosphere.
Recognised internationally, AKHA Trail 2026 is part of the Asia Trail Master (ATM) series (80km earns Quest Points), an ITRA-accredited event, and awards a UTMB Index across all distances — making it a standout race for trail runners seeking both authentic mountain adventure and global recognition.

Mandatory equipment (all distances)
• Hydration bag or container. • Water glasses, bowls, spoons (only for race of 31 58 80 km.) • Whistle, emergency blanket • Mobile phone with phone sim. • Headlamp (only for race of 58 80 km.) • Reflective strips (only for race of 58 80 km.) * No water glasses will be served on the race day. Let the runners prepare themselves. **The use of disposable plastic bottles (PET) is not allowed during the race.
