Lugano Scal

The Angioli staircase, as well as the nearby funicular railway, now disused, have a glorious past.

The adjacent Church of Santa Maria degli Angioli is one of the most important Renaissance historical monuments, not only in the Canton of Ticino but in the whole of Switzerland, and the scenery is among the most enchanting the city of Lugano has to offer.

Today, the entire area is the subject of studies aimed at restoring the proper value to this connection between the lake and the upper part of the city, towards the Tassino Park.

There are approx. 135 metres, a sequence of just under 300 steps that are already part of running itineraries for many enthusiasts, but today we propose to put you to the test, with yourself and with others.

Running on the steps:

Each entrant may run the staircase at least twice. The two ascent times will be timed and the sum of the two times will determine whether or not the top 10 women and top 10 men will participate in the final round.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category.

Places are limited to the first 100 participants in the order of registration.

Registration includes personalised bib number with chip, Arcobaleno ticket from home to Ticino and back, evening pasta party, wooden finisher medal.

At the end of the event there will be a convivial moment together with a pasta party at the nearby Restaurant-Bar Luini 6 at the LAC, in the square of the same name.
