The Express Trailers Zurrieq Half Marathon and 10K is organised by the organisers of the Malta Marathon on behalf of the Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club. The ZWAC has entrusted the Malta Marathon to organise this event to raise it's standard in order to join the Malta Marathon and the Mdina 2 Spinola events to be within the 3 most popular athletic events in Malta.

The topographical features and the state of a number of roads surrounding Zurrieq make finding an ideal route a difficult task. The Zurrieq Half Marathon was known for it's tough course so the Malta Marathon's prime task when asked to organise this event by the Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club in 2013 was to change the route to one that was less strenuous and more attractive to prospective participants. Together with a new half marathon route the MMOC had to find a 10K route that was to be incorpoarted as a new event with the half marathon.
We believe that we have found 2 routes that will no longer make the Zurrieq event known for it's tough route. With the right weather conditions and a strong runner we are bound to see the Zurrieq Half Marathon record beaten.
Both the half marathon and 10K pass by a number of surrounding villages.
Half Marathon:
The start of the Half Marathon starts right in front of the Zurrieq Parish Church.
Start to 1km - Zurrieq to Qrendi
1km to 3km - Qrendi to Mqabba
3km to 5km - Mqabba to Kirkop
5km to 8km - Kirkop to Hal-Far
8km to 15km - Hal-Far past the Malta International Airport to Kirkop
15km to 17km - Round Kirkop
17km to 18km - Kirkop to Mqabba
18km to 20km - Mqabba to Qrendi
20km to 21km - Qrendi to Zurrieq
The finish is also opposite the Zurrieq Parish Church
10K:
The start of the Half Marathon starts right in front of the Zurrieq Parish Church.
Start to 3km - Zurrieq to Safi
3km to 4km - Safi to Kirkop
4km to 6km - Round Kirkop
6km to 7km - Kirkop to Mqabba
7km to 9km - Mqabba to Qrendi
9km to 10km - Qrendi to Zurrieq
The finish is also opposite the Zurrieq Parish Church
