About Smith Rock Ascent

Welcome to the Smith Rock Ascent! Spend the weekend at one of the most scenic places in Oregon – Smith Rock State Park. Whether you prefer to run on trails or on the road, we have a course that you’ll love. Saturday is all about trails.

Sure to be an instant classic, this lollipop style course that involves ~4100 ft of elevation gain has amazing views of the Cascade mountains, the sheer rock faces at Smith Rock State Park and the unique beauty of the grasslands. 75% of the course is on sweet single-track trails.

Practicalities

Accommodation

Camping is available at Smith Rock State Park. Other nearby lodging options. Multiple lodging options exist in Bend (30 minutes to start/finish), Redmond (15 minutes) and Madras (25 minutes).

Aid Stations

There are 4 fully stocked aid stations. The aid stations will have the typical ultra fare: PB&J, crackers and cookies, pretzels, trail mix, pickles, fruit, Honey Stinger gels, Glukos energy drink, soda and water.

Award Medals

The top 3 male/female finishers will receive very nice products from some of our sponsors. There are also many random prizes that we will be giving to finishers.

Parking

There is a $5 parking fee to park at Smith Rock. Please be sure you pay the fee at one of the fee stations. If you don’t, you will be ticketed. Be sure to bring cash!
