Join Generali Milano Marathon 2020
The flat and smooth course of Generali Milano Marathon offers perfect conditions for your run. Combine this with mild Spring weather and streets lined with friendly spectators and you have perfect conditions for your personal best. The route of Milano Marathon passes near many landmarks of this important alpha city and fashion capital. Those include the Duomo Cathedral which is the largest church in Italy that took over 600 years to complete, the monumental 15th century Sforza Castle and the iconic San Siro stadium. The Generali Milano Marathon is a great way to start your sightseeing of this beautiful city. Make sure you program a couple more days to explore it even more.
Completely renewed for the 2015 edition, the single loop route, starting and finishing right in the city center, has been progressively improved in details up to the current design.
Generali Milan Marathon offers runners a modern and complete course, which combines the smoothness requested by top runners and fast amateurs, with the opportunity to admire and enjoy an increasingly beautiful city in its combination of historical and contemporary elements.
Awarded the Silver Label of the IAAF and the FIDAL Gold Label, in 2019 the competition will be enriched with further prestige, becoming the only Italian marathon to be included in the new international circuit Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Rankings. Running in April on the streets of Milan, runners will have the opportunity to earn points to qualify for the first World Age final, scheduled in London in spring 2020.

The time limit to finish the marathon is 6h30′. There will also be two intermediate “gates”: at the half marathon mark, after 3h15’ from the start (approximately at 12:15 pm) and at the 28 km mark, after 4h20’ from the start (approximately at 1:20 pm). If, unfortunately, you will not be able to pass the gates in time, you may be invited to board the buses for withdrawn athletes, or at least to continue running on the sidewalk and not on the road.
Refreshment stations are located at every 5 kilometres along the route and at the finish line. In every refreshment you will find water, sport drink, fruit and biscuits. An advice: don’t wait to be hungry or thirsty to eat or drink something, but try to take something at every refreshment, in this way you will reduce the possibilities to see your body going in crisis.. Celiac disease is a permanent intolerance to gluten, a protein found in wheat (spelled and khorasan wheat, commonly called kamut), rye, barley, oats or their hybridized strains and products. For intolerant people, AIC Lombardia offers a dedicated service with 3 gluten-free refreshment points at km 20, km 30 and at the finish.
Timing Data Service (TDS) will time your race from the moment you will pass under the starting gate: in this way, even if you will start from one of the last corrals, you will have the information about your net time. Along the course, TDS will take your time at 10 km, at the half marathon (km 21.097) and at 30 km. And of course at the finish… Even if we will provide you the net time, please remember that according to the official rules, rankings will be based on the “gun time”, that is the time calculated from the starter’s gunshot.
