After years of testing runners on Table Mountain and Pen Cerrig-calch in the heart of the Welsh Black Mountains, we’re taking things up a notch — quite literally. This year, the event moves to the iconic Mynydd Troed, offering a brand new challenge and a chance to set the very first course record!
Prepare for false summits, breathtaking 360° views of the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, and the stunning Llangorse Lake nestled in the valley below.
The race is a 3.2-mile strenuous and technical loop with relentless elevation. While the loop is shorter than in previous years, the climb makes up for it — and then some! You’ll have 10 hours to complete as many loops as you can, but beware: only the brave will endure to the end.
We’re also introducing a new twist:
First lap: Clockwise ascent and descent. Following laps: You choose the direction — clockwise or anti-clockwise!
The terrain is harsh, with steep ascents, technical descents, and runnable open trails. Two clip stations — at the summit trig point and the mountain base — will track your progress via a laminated card.
Key Rules:
10-hour strict cut-off: Any loop not completed before the final horn won’t be counted. Teams of 4, pairs, and solo entries welcome. Team scores are the collective total of completed loops — even if a teammate drops out. Medical checks apply — runners deemed unfit may only continue at their own risk.
The course is fully marked. Whether you run solo or in a team, one thing is certain: the mountain will test your endurance, determination, and grit.
