Join Port Douglas Gran Fondo Festival 2025

The Port Douglas Gran Fondo Festival will take place in the stunning Tropical North Queensland, offering the perfect opportunity to explore this breathtaking region. Over three exciting days, the event will feature various rides, including the 136km and 100km Gran Fondo, the 60km Semi Fondo, and the 48km Medio Fondo, all happening on Sunday, September 14. These rides, though timed, are not races—so you can either challenge yourself or simply enjoy the journey. Take in the spectacular scenery, pause for photos, and savor the experience with family and friends, all while prioritizing safety.

The scenic courses will guide you along the Great Barrier Reef Drive between Port Douglas and Palm Cove, offering panoramic views of the Coral Sea through lush palm trees. To enhance the experience, the road will be fully closed to traffic, allowing riders to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the surroundings.

Beyond the rides, Port Douglas offers a range of unforgettable experiences. You can snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with Quicksilver Cruises, encounter crocodiles at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, cuddle a koala at Wildlife Habitat, explore the Daintree Rainforest with a guided walk through Mossman Gorge, or enjoy sunset drinks at Hemingway’s Brewery. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Course highlights
136km Gran Fondo
The 136km Gran Fondo departs from Wharf Street, Port Douglas, in front of the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. Riders will turn right into Macrossan Street, the main street of Port Douglas, then making another right turn once they meet the magnificent Four Mile Beach. The course then takes the riders out of Port Douglas through the corridor of palm trees lining Port Douglas Road where the course meets Great Barrier Reef Drive, which will be fully closed to traffic in both directions.
A short diversion around the quiet country backroads of Mowbray takes the riders past sugar cane fields this region is famous for, crossing over creeks and rivers before arriving back onto Great Barrier Reef Drive.
100km Gran Fondo

The 48km Medio Fondo departs from Williams Esplanade in Palm Cove in front of the Surf Club. This palm tree lined; beachside paradise will be a magical destination to begin our Medio Fondo (medium ride). There are a few hills along the way, so we would encourage you to train for the ride, but it is well within reach of many who might be looking for a challenge.
There are plenty of Aid Stations along the course to keep you fuelled and hydrated and you will have the opportunity to experience riding your bike along one of the most spectacular roads in the world; Great Barrier Reef Drive, which will be fully closed to traffic in both directions.
Hartley’s to Port 40km MTB Race
