Join Nordmarka Skogsmaraton
Nordmarka Forrest Marathon (Nordmarka Skogsmaraton) in Oslo was founded in 1994, and is one of the most popular marathon races in Norway. Run through the beautiful forested and hilly Nordmarka, a major recreational area both for inhabitants and visitors of Oslo.
Course highlights
Start and goal are south of Sognsvann, on the football pitch in front of Lyn's clubhouse at Kringsjå (Olav M. Troviks road 13). The trail goes past Sognsvann over Ankerveien to Maridalen, far Skærsjødammen and up to Bjørnholt, making a detour into the weekend before continuing past Kikutstua, and back over Kobberhaugen, past Ullevålseter, before it ends down the west side of Sognsvann. It is mostly on forest roads, with a couple of kilometers on the trail after Kobberhaugen. Nordmarka's topography gives the race a tough profile, and the challenge for many is probably more about completing in a good way than striving for record times. In return, the course offers beautiful natural surroundings, an excess of fresh air and our good food at the food and beverage stations along the way, and a "more" runway than flat asphalt marathon, which makes the legs less "beating" so that one gets faster ready for new challenges. All in all, this Nordmarka forest marathon gives it its distinctive character.
