Malawi International Marathon

Often dismissed as 'Africa for beginners', Malawi has historically been overlooked as an interloper at the table of great safari destinations. That is until a lion reintroduction program commenced in 2012 and travel editors suddenly started salivating.
Aside from its animals, what immediately captures you about this vivid country is its geographical diversity. Slicing through the landscape in a trough formed by the Great Rift Valley is Africa’s third largest lake – Lake Malawi; a shimmering mass of glittering clear water, its depths are swarming with colourful cichlid fish. Whether it's diving, snorkelling, kayaking or chilling out on one of its desert islands, a visit to the lake is a must. Malawi, home to the Malawi International Marathon.

There's little doubt this will be the most memorable race of your running career. The Malawi International Marathon is part of the Impact Marathon Series. It describes itself as a "International Development Marathon" where runners will be invited to "Run the Warm Heart".

The Impact Marathon Series is a social business designed to harness the simple power of running to sustainably build communities, bring people together around huge causes and leave a lasting impact on the world. Our mission is to change the world through running. We create experiences that go so much further than just running a race. Across the Impact Marathon Series, we'll be tackling all of the 17 UN Global Goals. Our runners will truely see the impact of their time, money and resources by visiting and meeting all of the projects they are supporting. It's charity as you've never seen it before.
