Únete a Kings Mountain Marathon
This race fulfills all of the marathonmaniacs.com requirements to count towards a marathon completion in all 50 states. A half marathon and full marathon course have been designed and tested by local runners to provide the best scenery, safety, and support for your race experience.
South Carolina’s Kings Mountain Marathon & Half Marathon got its start in 2010, after severe weather prompted the cancellation of February’s Myrtle Beach Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K that year. Stirred by the desire of a number entrants looking to complete their quest to run 50 marathons in all 50 states, the race organizers pulled this race together.
Past runners praised the peaceful natural beauty along the route that winds through both Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain Military National Park, which lies adjacent to the state park and stands today as a monument to one of the most significant turning points for American victory in the Revolutionary War.
Destacable en la ruta
Runners in both the half and the full marathons share the same starting line and time, in the parking lot next to Lake Crawford inside the park, just off Park Road. From there, those running the full, 26.2-mile marathon head out into the park for a loop route that takes them through both parks along State Route 705 (Park Road), Rock House Road, Lookout Tower Road and Apple Road.
Along the route, runners can expect plenty of rolling hills as well as variety in the terrain — some surfaces are paved, some are gravel, while others are dirt.
