THE ASPEN VALLEY MARATHON IS A BEAUTIFUL AND SCENIC RUN ALONG THE RIO GRANDE TRAIL. THROUGHOUT THE MARATHON, THE RUNNERS TRAVEL 1,418 FT DOWNHILL.
More than 7,000 feet up in the Rockies, one of Colorado’s marathon race events offers some attractive features, a course that takes runners off the highways and onto a converted rail corridor trail, along gorgeous scenery thanks to the mountain peaks all around and the Roaring Fork River alongside the trail, and an almost all downhill course from the start to the finish.
