Sun Mountain 100K

Take a step back into the Old West. Located on the North Cascades Scenic Byway in Washington’s magnificent Methow Valley, Winthrop is a old west town with wood boardwalks and western charm and is also the host of the annual Sun Mountain 100k race.

With its beautiful trails, and challenging-enough but not outrageously killer course, the Sun Mountain ultramarathon is the perfect race for anyone looking to do their first Ultra or wanting to set a PR. There is a very short stretch of pavement near the end, but other than that the route consists of fast hard-packed dirt trails, through wildflower-carpeted meadows and forest. And the cumulative elevation gain is relatively tame about half that of many other ultras.
