Über Run For God – Run At The Mill

Join us for the Annual Run for God – Run at the Mill – 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, which will take place at Historic Prater’s Mill in Dalton, GA. This spring race is truly one for the family! Complete with food, music, children’s inflatables and much more, your family will have a chance to enjoy the day while you reach to achieve that next endurance goal.

Nestled among the north Georgia mountains that blend into the southern Appalachians and the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, the annual Run At The Mill Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is part of a program called Run For God that seeks to encourage Christians to deepen their faith and further their health through a 12-week training program that blends mind, spirit and body.

The race, which lies just a short drive north of Dalton and roughly an hour and a half north of Atlanta, is part of a series of running events that are set to take place around the Southeast in conjunction with the Run For God program — and includes races in May in North Carolina and in June in Chattanooga, Tenn. — and were begun by a Georgia resident named Mitchell Hollis.

The first of these, the Run For God – Run At The Mill Half Marathon in Varnell, is set to follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Prater’s Mill, the site of a historic mid-1800s-era gristmill that remains in operation today.

From Prater’s Mill — which also hosts what is probably the area’s most popular fall events, the annual Prater’s Mill Country Fair in October — runners head out on a clockwise loop route that takes them north along Old Prater’s Mill Road, north along Wilson Road, east along Cohutta Beaverdale Road, south along Gaughey Chapel Road and south along Crow Road before bringing them back to the finish line along Prater’s Mill Road.
