Since the very beginning, Poznań Marathon is in the lead amongst Polish and Eastern European marathons. The race attracts runners, whose ambitious goals and a strength to pursue their dreams, make them above average.
The Poznan Marathon has been held for eleven years. Its first edition was in 2000 under the name Hansaplast Poznań Marathon. Beiersdorf Lechia company was the titular sponsor of the event for three years. It has been a city sports event called the Poznań Marathon. Since the very beginning of its existence, the Poznań Marathon has been ranked first among the greatest marathons in Poland.
The Poznan Marathon is the biggest marathon in Poland, with over 3100 entrants in 2007. The marathon lasts 42.195 km from its start at Baraniaka Str. to the finish line at Lake Malta. The event also features a half-marathon for inline skaters, as well as a competition for those in wheelchairs
Course highlights
With a start in Abpa, Baraniaka Street , the marathon will go along new streets of the city, and the competitors will reach the finish line traditionally at Malta. the runners run through Arcybiskupa Dymka Street, Szwajcarska Street, Kurlandzka Street, Inflancka Street, Józefa Piłsudskiego Street, Ludwika Zamenhofa Street, Hetmańska Street, Rolna Street, Wspólna Street, Dolna Wilda Street, Piastowska Street, Droga Dębińska Street, Garbary Street, Grobla Street, Mostowa Street, Wierz, owa Street, Grobla Street, Most Rocha Street (bridge), Kórnicka Street, Piotrowo Street, Berdychowo Street, Arcybiskupa Antoniego Baraniaka Street and Wiankowa Street to reach the finish line.Route
