Orcas Island 50km

Auf Einen Blick

Distanz Ultramarathon

Über Orcas Island 50km

Orcas is a special island. More rugged than Lopez yet less crowded than San Juan Island, it has struck a delicate balance between friendliness and frostiness, development and preservation, tourist dollars and priceless privacy – for the time being at least. The growth of tourism is a distinctly modern development and an inevitable consequence of Orcas' refreshing get-away-from-it-all location.

With that said, the Orcas Island 50km Ultra is the place to be, it is apart of the Rainshadow Running Series. Whether you're a Rainshadow veteran, or brand new to our race series, we're glad you've found us here! With some of the most beautiful and challenging trail ultras throughout the Northwest.

The Orcas Island 50k is unique in the trail running world, with old-growth forests, tough climbs, and spectacular views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound - but what truly sets it apart is the chance to hang out all weekend on a gorgeous island with your trail runner friends. These are the oldest of all the Rainshadow running races - Races that will leave you wondering: Why run anywhere else?

PRAKTISCHE INFORMATIONEN

Unterkunft

Just like at Deception Pass, Moran State Park has a retreat center that Rainshadow will rent out for the weekend for communal lodging good times, and a summer-camp-in-February sort of pre- and post-race party feel. The bunkhouses are heated, but anyone staying there will need to bring bedding (sheets, sleeping bags, pillows, fuzzy bunny slippers, etc.), and anything else you might want for the weekend. Anyone staying in the bunkhouses should also bring a headlamp, or two, as being able to see where you're going in the pitch dark Orcas night is highly recommended. There are also places to camp on the island, and near the start/finish at Camp Moran, and multiple hotels in the East Sound area.

Maximale Zeit

9 hour cut off time.

Transport

To get to Orcas Island you'll need to take a ferry from Anacortes, WA, or a neighboring island.
