Über Coeur d’Alene Marathon

The Coeur d’Alene Marathon offers one of the most spectacular events in the country. At an elevation of 2200 feet above sea level, the resort community of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, resting on the shores of spectacular Lake Coeur d’Alene, welcomes visitors to a plethora of vacation and recreational activities.

Featuring a refreshing mix of city streets and the scenic views of nearby Coeur d’Alene Lake, the Coeur d’Alene Marathon & Half Marathon takes runners on a course along an elevation of 2,300 feet above sea level through this winter resort city.

This paved course is an out and back race that is mostly flat with the exception of a couple of hills at miles 4 and 7. The course is dotted with aid stations every 2-3 miles which will be stocked with water and Gu products. No headphones are allowed in this race, sorry music lovers.

The course will have water and GU Products available approximately every 2 miles. GU Gels will be available on the marathon course and half-marathon course.


All Marathon, Marathon Walk, and Half-Marathon finishers will recieve a medal. Awards for the Overall male and female finishers and Overall male and female Master (40+). Age group awards (medals, 3 deep) in 5 year increments from U19 through 75+.

The course will be officially open for 8 hours: from 5:30 am until 1:30 pm.


Timing is provided by Nomadz Timing. Marathon, Half-marathon, and 5k timing chips are pre-attached to bib numbers. Timing chips are disposable. All Races will be timed!


McEuen Park (Front Ave & 4th Street)

Along the way, runners will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Northern Idaho city, with the Rocky Mountain foothills off in the distance and boats sailing along the blue water of Lake Coeur d’Alene for much of the middle part of the race.

Along the way, they’ll also pass through a number of city parks and green spaces like Tubbs Hill Park, McEuen Field and Coeur d’Alene’s City Park, as well as run through a stretch of the campus of North Idaho College on both the out and back routes.


Runners start the out-and-back course for the Coeur d’Alene Marathon on Front Avenue, next to McEuen Park. From there, they’ll follow Front and Mullan Avenues out to East Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive, where they’ll start a long out-and-back stretch all the way south to the halfway turnaround, which looks out over the lakeshore next to the North Idaho Centennial Trail. After that, runners head back to McEuen Park for the race finish.

The course is made up of paved surfaces throughout the race and takes advantage of many of the scenic views of the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation, which is a sponsor of the race.
