Über Sierra Vista Trail Runs
Las Cruces and her older and smaller sister city, Mesilla, sit at the edge of a broad basin beneath the fluted Organ Mountains, at the crossroads of two major highways, I-10 and I-25. There’s something special about the combination of bright white sunlight, glassy blue skies, flowering cacti, rippling red mountains and desert lowland landscape found here. The city itself, however, is less than a dream town: sprawling, and beastly hot for much of the year.
An eclectic mix of old and young, Las Cruces is home to New Mexico State University (NMSU), whose 18,000 students infuse it with a healthy dose of youthful liveliness, while at the same time its 350 days of sunshine and numerous golf courses are turning it into a popular retirement destination. With that being said, the Sierra Vista Trail Runs is the place to be.
Welcome to the annual running of the Sierra Vista Trail Runs. Come join us for a fun, low key community trail event. The distances will stay the same as before: 50k, 30k and 10k.
All proceeds will be donated to the Southern New Mexico Traill Alliance to improve the trails and outdoor recreation in the area, snmta.org.
Please bring a used pair of shoes as part of the registration. We will be donating all the shoes to the homeless community at the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, http://www.mvcommunityofhope.org.
