Marathon Races In Croatia Unlike Anywhere Else on Earth!

The main focus is, of course, the magnificent stone walls that tower over the town. While you'd think the steps and the climb are the x-factor for the pace or ability to complete this marathon, I'd argue that it's the rolling hills and gravel roads that follow which are the real challenge here. In particular, over the distance of the marathon it never really feels like you're running over any flat ground. That was surprising to me, and made it a true challenge. The gravel sections are no joke as well. These are loose, large rocky roads which can be tricky to gain footing. I wouldn't call it a true "trail race," but that was the mindset I had to enter in terms of pacing and expectations across much of this race.

It’s a challenging marathon but if you’re not precious about doing a PB you will have an amazing time.
