Join Placentia Half Marathon 2026
The Placentia Half Marathon, held in the picturesque town of Piacenza, Italy, offers runners a unique blend of historical architecture and scenic routes. This annual event attracts participants from around the world, eager to experience the charming streets, vibrant local culture, and supportive community. With a well-organized race and festive atmosphere, the Piacenza Half Marathon provides an unforgettable experience for both competitive athletes and casual runners looking to enjoy Italy’s stunning landscapes.
Course details
The loop that forms the first 5 km stretch of the route (red line) passes through some of Piacenza's main streets. From the Monumento ai Pontieri to the Public Promenade, after skirting a couple of public gardens, it reaches Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piacenza's main shopping street.
After the first passage through Piazza Cavalli and in front of Palazzo Farnese, you'll tackle a stretch of the Trebbia River embankment (just before it flows into the Po), a true running gym for Piacenza residents.
Then, a series of long avenues make the route a real speed-up, before retracing the Public Promenade, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and reaching the red carpet that will guide you to the finish line.
As we mentioned, the route is fast and completely flat. The only "elevation difficulties" are an underpass and an overpass just before and after the stretch of embankment.
Relay Half Marathon
The route is the same as the competitive PHM. The Relay will start immediately after the competitive race. The shortest route between the transition area and the marathon center is marked in green on the route. It is 1.8 km. Naturally, the first runner can also decide to go to Piazza Cavalli to wait for his or her partner. Running both sections of the route is absolutely prohibited. This would violate the rules and result in the team's disqualification from the event. The bibs are different colors and geolocated. The reason is clear: a half-marathon, i.e., a course longer than 20 km, cannot be considered non-competitive, and therefore, FIDAL membership and a competitive certificate are required.
