Sanremo Yacht Club
The race starts just a few miles south of Milan's famed Duomo, and within 2 miles, runners find themselves on a pristine and picturesque bike path, which meanders its way out of the outskirts of Milan to Pavia (Mile 17), the first of the Italian countryside towns you will run through on your way to the sea. From Pavia all the way to Ovada (Mile 75), you will run through the authentic Lombardy and Piedmont countrysides, arriving at classic Italian villages and towns every 5-10 miles along the way.
Once you leave Ovada, the "mountain" portion of the race begins, and you will gradually climb the 3000 ft. mountain, passing ski towns such as Campo Ligure and Masone along the way. At approximately Mile 92, you reach the Turchino Pass, and for the next 8 miles, you will fly down the backside of the mountain to the sea. When you arrive at Voltri (Mile 99), you will turn onto Via Aurelia (SS1), which will basically lead you along the Riviera for the final 75 miles into your ultimate destination in Sanremo. The race finishes in dramatic fashion right on the water at the Sanremo Yacht Club
The UMS 175 is the longest point-to-point road ultra in Europe.
