关于 Twincity Marathon
From a humble start in 2014 that only attracted around 4,500 runners, Twincity Marathon has almost doubled its size in 2018 to 8,600 runners. And for the 5th edition, we strive to make it even bigger but not sacrificing the quality of the race that has made it one of the most popular marathon races in Malaysia.
Number 5 is always significant and bring a lot of meaning to our lives as individual. For most of us, it is the year that we enrolled officially into the learning environment, into pre-school. So did Twincity Marathon. It had been a steep learning curve during our first four years, learning the tips and tricks and trying to master all the basics of organizing a race. At 5 years old, we are sure a lot more are being expected from us, by the runners, sponsors and partners; and the expectations would grow bigger as we grow older.
And 5 is the number of many great stories, too! Who could forget the legendary tale of Malay warrior, Hang Tuah and his four warrior friends – Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi, Hang Lekir and Hang Lekiu. Some of us even grow up watching a team of 5 teenagers fighting evil witch to save Angel Grove from the evil in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The list continues but what is 5 individuals without unity and teamwork?
Unity is one of the traits that a marathon event promotes and it goes hand-in-hand with the aspiration of a nation, like our beloved Malaysia that blooms from its unique multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religion population. And there could not be a better way to unite everyone of us than a sports event like Twincity Marathon.
From the many brainstorming sessions we had, we have decided to use the logo, which depicts the 5 main ethnics in Malaysia – Malay, Chinese, Indian, and the biggest ethnic in Sabah – Kadazan, and in Sarawak – Iban (while not forgetting other ethnics); coming together to celebrate unity and prosperity in one platform/event that is Twincity Marathon 2019. The 5-petal hibiscus, with 5 buds on each side of the logo is also to depict prosperity blooming in this country around the lives of its multi-ethnic people.
