Trail Grigne Sud
Join Trail Grigne Sud
In this edition of the Trail Grigne Sud, runners will experience the splendor of the southern Grigne Mountains. The race features two trails, both beginning and ending in the town of Mandello del Lario, extending from the serene lakeshore to the towering peaks under the gaze of the Sasso Cavallo wall. This course is as demanding as it is mesmerizing, requiring both physical and mental endurance. Participants will be rewarded with panoramic lake views and will traverse paths where chamois roam freely.
The longest route, known as the TGS EXTREME, spans 42 kilometers and boasts a total elevation gain of 3,800 meters. On a map, the 42-kilometer TGS EXTREME might appear deceptively manageable, suggesting a "relatively" short and easy path. However, the reality lies in the grueling 3,800 meters of elevation gain, categorizing this race firmly within the spirit of pure alpine trail running: numerous hours spent ascending and descending mountains. Proper training alone will not suffice; it is crucial to effectively manage one’s energy throughout the entire race.

The maximum number of participants is set to 150 for the TGS Extreme race.

The TGS SPRINT is held almost entirely on mountain trails, although it is shorter in length: 21 kilometers, with a total elevation gain of 1,800 meters. After leaving the center of Mandello del Lario (200 m) and reaching the village of Somana, the route takes a different direction from that of the long course, turning right and passing by the small church of Santa Maria and heading up to Era Bassa alp (822 m). From there, the uphill continues to Gardata (1020 m), where the short course rejoins the long course. After that, the track carries runners to Versarico (730 m), where the time gate is located, four hours after the start. At this point, the second ascent to the last peak begins to the Zucco di Manavello (1025 m). The final descent, steep in the first part and more suitable for running in the second, closes the loop at Mandello del Lario.
