The 8th Novo Mesto Half Marathon will take place on November 15, 2026. The event offers three official, IAAF-measured routes: 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, all featuring a primarily flat terrain that takes participants through the scenic streets of Novo Mesto and along the green Krka river.
The Half Marathon course covers 21.1 km with a total elevation gain of just 102 meters, making it an ideal race for both competitive athletes and recreational runners. The 10 km route consists of two laps of the 5 km course, while the 5 km route shares the first 4 km with the Half Marathon runners, offering a great experience for shorter-distance participants.
All races will start simultaneously, creating an energetic and exciting atmosphere as runners of all levels come together to celebrate the spirit of the event.
Novo Mesto, the provincial capital of the Dolenjska region, is known for its rich archaeological heritage and beautiful natural surroundings. The race provides a unique opportunity to explore this historic city while running through its vibrant streets and scenic riverbanks.

Course details
The half marathon route is new. It was driven over the new bridge in Irča vas to Straža and back. It is flatter and faster than the track in previous years. Most of the route runs on a hard asphalt surface with a shorter section of hardened macadam between 16km and 17km. The start and finish is on Seidlova cesta, and the course is run along the Krka river and along the most beautiful running terrains in the surroundings of Novi mesto. The course is 21,097m long, officially measured and has the AIMS certificate of the European Road Running Association. The half marathon limit is 3 hours. Half-marathon runners who have a 4 km intermediate time worse than 41 min gross will be redirected to the 10 km course. There are 4 refreshment stations and 3 water stations on the route.
10km
The new 10km course takes place in two laps of 5km. has been laid over a new footbridge in Novo mesto which has been built in 2023 by famous Slovenian bridge architect Marjan Pipenbaher. The start and finish is on the Seidlova cesta, together with the half-marathon and the 5km runners. The course is run along the Krka river and along the most beautiful running terrains in the surroundings of Novo Mesto. The first 4km of the route follows the same route as the half marathon, then the route turns left on Topliška cesta towards the city center and continues along the bridge Šmihelski mos towards the finish line of the 5km run. 10km runners will enter the second lap of the course here. There is small deduction of distance at km 6 in second lap due to corect distance. The course is officially measured and certified by AIMS - Association of International Marathons and Distance Races Road Running Association. The course is completely paved.
5km
The new 5 km long course goes through new bridge in Novo mesto designed by architect Marjan Pipenbaher. The start and finish is on Seidlova cesta along with the half marathon and 10km run, the course is run along the Krka river and along the most beautiful running terrains in the surroundings of Novi Mesto. The first 4km of the route follows the same route as the half-marathon, then the route turns left on Topliška cesta towards the city center and continues along the Šmihelski most bridge towards the finish line of the 5km run. The course is officially measured and certified by AIMS - Association of International Marathons and Distance Races Road Running Association.. The route is completely asphalted.

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
Registration at the EXPO (start number pick-up) during the event weekend is possible if spots are still available. On the day of the event, registration will be open until 8:30 AM, again subject to availability. Please note: only the start number and timing chip are guaranteed.
Can someone collect my race pack for me?
Yes, with letter of prove or authorization letter.
Can I change the distance after I purchase a ticket?
Yes you can change your distance for smaller distance free of charge.
What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
Entry fee refunds are possible until 1 September 2026, subject to an administrative fee of EUR 10. After this date, refunds are not possible, including in cases of illness or with a medical certificate. Entry fees are not refunded for non-participation. Uncollected race packages will not be sent by post. Transfer of an entry fee to another person is possible, subject to an administrative fee of EUR 5. In the case of a transfer to a longer distance, the price difference valid on the date of transfer will be charged.
